- True African Big 5 Safari
Sausage Tree Safari Camp is situated in the Balule Nature Reserve which forms part of the famous Greater Kruger National Park. The 55,000 ha reserve is strategically located with a 4km stretch along the Olifants River making it a haven to Africa’s famous Big Five.
For an authentic immersion into the African bushveld, Sausage Tree Safari Camp offers you an unique opportunity to stay in luxury, African-styled safari tents nestled in between Marula, Knobthorn, Acacia and Sausage Trees. The sounds of the night are closer, the smells of nature are stronger, and the feeling of actually being in the bush is so much more intense.
The luxury tents are built on an elevated position each with its own special view, overlooking a dry river bed, the bush and the majestic mountains – a unique bonus of Sausage Tree Safari Camp is its spectacular views of the Northern Drakensberg Mountains.

Activities
Sausage Tree Safari Camp aims to evoke all your senses with a selection of great activities in which to uniquely explore the area. After enjoying a must-do game drive you can also embark on an Elephant Interaction adventure, Olifants River boat cruise, Nyani Cultural Village visit, Blyde Waterfall hike, Baobab and Kinyonga Reptile Park tour or hit the skies for some hot air ballooning or a microlight flight.
A heart-warmingly special experience is visiting the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre where injured animals are taken care of and where possible rehabilitated and released back into the wild. At any given time you could find lions, leopards, hyenas, vultures, ground hornbills, duiker, zebra, giraffe, and even mongoose, tortoise and honey badgers.
To learn more on how to take the perfect picture you can enrol for a photographic workshop. Chosen locations offer value for money and superb wildlife sightings. Workshops are designed around animal movements and concentrations in the various locations. On all workshops there are notes and loads of practical tuition out in the field or on the vehicle.
Sausage Tree Safari Camp has created the perfect retreat for relaxation after a day filled with so much activity. Enjoy the refreshing deck pool and the indoor or outdoor lounge or cosy bar complete with a variety of first class South African wines and a selection of South African craft beer and gin.
Breakfast and lunch all form part of your game viewing experience, served on an open deck with uninterrupted views of the bush and a water hole frequented by a variety of animals. Dinner is mostly served under the stars, with a crackling fire adding some romance to those magical, African safari nights.
