Sausage Tree Safari Camp is situated in the Balule Nature Reserve which forms part of the famous Greater Kruger National Park. The small 55,000 ha reserve is strategically located with a 4km stretch along the Olifants River making it a haven to Africa’s famous Big Five.

For an authentic immersion into the African bushveld, Sausage Tree Safari Camp offers you a unique opportunity to stay in luxury, African-styled safari tents nestled in between Marula, Knobthorn, Acacia and Sausage Trees. The sounds of the night are closer, the smells of nature are stronger, and the feeling of actually being in the bush is so much more intense.

The luxury tents are built in an elevated position each with its own special view, overlooking a dry river bed, the bush and the majestic mountains – a unique bonus of Sausage Tree Safari Camp is its spectacular views of the Northern Drakensberg Mountains.

    “Fantastic Safari Experience!”

I had a wonderful safari weekend at Sausage Tree Safari Camp. Everything from the game drives, hospitality and food was truly amazing. I received a friendly warm welcome from Shanna and Eswe as I arrived. The room itself was very comfortable, what I loved the most about it was the outdoor shower and the great view onto the bush. I had the most amazing game drives during my stay, Matt the Ranger’s knowledge of the bush is truly incredible. It was truly fascinating to watch Matt and Timba( Tracker) guide through nature. The food was also outstanding!! The first night I had a Boma Dinner, a traditional meal prepared by the Chef which was fantastic! This is a very special place in the bush, and a place I would recommend to anyone!

“First class safari. First class people.”

Everything was first class. At Sausage Tree, you immediately feel at home due to the friendly and personable staff. The food is superb, from rusks to the 3-course evening dinners, it’s all made to perfection.

The tented accommodation is excellent and with a view on to the watering hole, we were never disappointed. All of the hotel facilities are to a high standard and we loved the intimate feel.

The game drives blew us away. We had 6 very different, yet breathtaking experiences. Matt and all of the trekkers are absolutely top drawer and can read the bush amazingly well. We spotted everything from rare African wild dogs to hippo, and also African Wild Cat, Giraffe, elephants, lions (hunting as well). The list goes on.

Highly recommend and we will return one day!
